A courier who sped at a marked police car in Arbroath, then ditched his fake registration plates in a bid to escape the law, will spend Christmas behind bars.
Shayne Bozho previously admitted driving dangerously on September 27 and 28 last year.
He also used illegal number plates, which he removed in an attempt to pervert the course of justice.
He further failed to provide police with his personal details when asked to do so.
29-year-old Bozho, of Little Burton Drive in Tipton, Birmingham appeared from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court on a warrant after he missed a sentencing hearing.
Drove at police car
The court heard he had been driving on Waverley Terrace, Abbotsford Road, Seafield Road and Seaton Road in Arbroath with his headlights off during the hours of darkness.
When he was approached by PC Martin Masson, Bozho was asked to switch off his engine.
Instead, he drove straight at a stationary marked police car.
PC Barry Stewart had to drive the squad car out of the way to avoid a collision.
After this, Bozho mounted the pavement and drove at excessive speed.
Gained job as courier
Solicitor John Boyle said his client had missed the sentencing hearing as he was unemployed at the time and could not make his way up from Birmingham.
However, he said since his guilty pleas were tendered, Bozho had gained employment as a delivery driver for a national courier company, despite the dangerous driving carrying a mandatory interim disqualification.
Sheriff John Rafferty was told social work reports ordered previously were incomplete and ordered them to be finished while Bozho is remanded in custody.
He will return to court on December 28 to be sentenced.
