A 36-year-old Fife woman caught with child abuse videos on her phone cried as she sat in court to hear her case details read out.
Samantha Clayfield was found to have 15 videos on the device, which included children – mainly girls – estimated to be aged between two and 13 being sexually abused.
The court heard 12 of the videos were of the most graphic kind.
Court papers state the offending took place between September 18 and October 4 in 2020 at Clayfield’s home address in the Dunfermline’s Brucefield Avenue.
Could not access laptop
Procurator fiscal depute Laura McManus said police searched Clayfield’s home after receiving intelligence about child sexual abuse material connected to an IP address there.
During the search, officers seized a mobile phone which was examined and 15 videos of child sexual abuse and exploitation material were found.
The fiscal depute said: “The videos depicted various sexual activity, including penetrative sexual activity with adults, and one depicted anal penetration”.
Ms McManus said a laptop was also seized by police but was unable to be examined due to security features.
Clayfield appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court to plead guilty to the charge of taking or permitting to be taken or making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children.
The court heard that Clayfield has no previous convictions.
Fled court with face covered
Sheriff Susan Duff deferred sentencing until January 10 for the production of background reports.
Clayfield was placed on the Sex Offenders Register in the interim.
She sobbed while in the dock, before entering it and after the details of her case had been read out.
After her case, she covered her face and used a back entrance to leave court to avoid reporters.
