A knife-wielding Fife man “charged” down his mother’s stairs towards police officers before being Tasered.
Ceiryn Meade had earlier been topless on the street while holding the blade.
At one point he chased a car with it.
The 23-year-old had been taking Valium and drinking Buckfast and vodka during the episode at his mother’s address in Boyle Drive, Rosyth, on January 17 last year.
Ran at car with knife
Procurator fiscal depute Laura McManus told Dunfermline Sheriff Court Meade had been upstairs with a friend and “burst” into the downstairs living room and “squared up” to his mother with the blade after she called police due to his behaviour.
He went into the street outside with the weapon and no top on.
A driver in the area noticed Meade “waving something in his hand” at around 7pm.
The fiscal depute said: “As the witness slowed, the accused began running towards the car and they saw the accused had an item in their hand.
“Fearing the accused had a knife she immediately drove off.”
During this time police received a number of calls from members of the public about a man brandishing a knife.
Armed police were deployed to Meade’s mother’s address, alongside other police officers.
Tasered
Police identified themselves as armed and officers heard one of the men upstairs shouting down: “Come on then”.
As they made their way upstairs, Meade appeared at the top, holding a large, black-handled kitchen knife in his right hand.
Ms McManus said Meade initially held it out from his waist, then moved it behind his lower back but refused to drop it when challenged by police.
The fiscal continued: “Soon after, he charged downstairs towards officers while holding the knife in his right hand towards officers.
“The accused was struck by Tasers, causing him to fall downstairs.
Meade admitted he had been consuming Valium, Buckfast and vodka.
He pled guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and having a knife in his possession without reasonable excuse or lawful authority.
Transphobic attack
Meade, of Links Place in Burntisland, is already subject to a community payback order for his role in a transphobic attack in Dunfermline in February 2019.
Meade and his accomplice, Mark Jeffrey, bottled and stamped on Miss Transgender UK 2019, Aria Welsh and told her they would “kill her” because they would not accept transgender people in their town.
The pair admitted the attack aggravated by transphobia under section 2 of the Offences (Aggravation by Prejudice) (Scotland) Act 2009.
In relation to this, Meade was given 135 hours of unpaid work, an eight-month curfew and a supervision order for two years.
Sheriff Susan Duff called for a progress report on the community payback order and said this will cover issues she needs to know about in relation to Meade’s latest conviction.
The case will call again on December 22.
