A female sex offender who assaulted a taxi driver after being convicted for touching up a train conductor has narrowly avoided a prison sentence.
Irene Torrie was placed on a supervision order for three years and made to register as a sex offender when she appeared for sentencing at Dundee Sheriff Court.
Torrie exposed herself and groped a taxi driver’s penis in a shocking incident in May 2020.
The 42-year-old also racially abused her neighbours, as well as making a sexually indecent comment in August that year.
Sentencing Torrie, Sheriff Paul Brown warned she had faced being sent to prison.
He said: “These are very serious matters against a background of previous offences.
“It is obvious you have a number of personal problems.
“I will follow the recommendations in the report but I must warn you it is a direct alternative to custody.”
Previous crimes
As well as supervision, she must attend an alcohol and addiction rehabilitation programme and attend the Tay Project sex offender rehabilitation scheme.
Torrie, of Mossgiel Crescent, was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for three years.
She admitted at an earlier date sexually assaulting the driver on various roads in the city on May 29 2020 by touching him and exposing herself to him.
She admitted making sexual comments and forcing him to touch her breasts, thighs and buttocks.
The court heard previously Torrie clambered into the front of the cab to grope the driver.
She stripped off her shorts and exposed herself to the driver, telling him she had a condom with her and that she was “a good f***” who would pay him if he came into her house.
In a previous case, Torrie admitted causing uproar on a train after a prosecco binge by rubbing her body against a conductor.
A year earlier she had been placed on the Register after performing a sex act in front of police when they turned up to quiz her about a neighbour dispute.
