A teenager admitted a vicious assault in a Perthshire village.
Aidan Milne appeared at Perth Sheriff Court and admitted attacking a male to his injury at The Square in Meigle on May 18 last year.
The court heard the 18-year-old was acting with another person when he assaulted his victim, struck him on the head, seized him by the body and dragged him.
Milne, of Springbank Road, Blairgowrie, then knocked his victim to the ground, before repeatedly punching kicking and punching him to the head and body.
Sheriff Robert Carr deferred sentence until January 11 for background reports.
Kitten swindle
A Fife fraudster found guilty of pretending to sell kittens has been told by a sheriff to pay her victims their money back. Samantha Piaget took £280 in return for pets they never received because they had already been seized by the Scottish SPCA.
Cemetery paedophile
A paedophile who believed he was meeting a 13-year-old girl in Brechin cemetery has been forced to move away from his Angus home. Francis Cargill, 50, was snared by an online hunter group after he had engaged with a decoy and was sentenced at Dundee Sheriff Court.
Taxi raider
A Dundee lout who stole from a city taxi spat at police and custody officers.
Darren Rachwal raided the silver Volkswagen Caddy which was parked at Camperdown Road on April 20.
When he was arrested, he was caught with the taxi bag containing cash, documents and ID.
He spat on a sergeant and a custody officer at West Bell Street station.
While being taken to Dundee police HQ, Rachwal told police he was going to “take their face right off” and made offensive comments about their parents.
He behaved in a threatening manner by resisting two police constables, pushing them away and preventing them from applying handcuffs.
The 30-year-old repeatedly shouted, swore and acted aggressively and made threats of violence towards police and custody staff.
Rachwal was brought from HMP Perth to Dundee Sheriff Court to admit the theft, assaults and abusive.
His solicitor Jane Caird said he had “stupidly” taken Valium that night and “just went off the rails.”
Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown further remanded Rachwal and deferred sentence until next month for reports.
Last year, Rachwal was jailed after telling police he was going to rape their children.
In 2019, he viciously attacked a petrol station worker who accused him of shoplifting.
Back to school
An 18-year-old thief stole a car belonging to a teacher at his former high school. Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court heard Liam Kelly somehow managed to steal the keys from the teacher’s jacket pocket inside Auchmuty High School in Glenrothes before making off with his car.
Blade sharpener assault
Karl Simpson, 32, of Priory Crescent, Arbroath chased a man who hit him and clubbed him with a blade sharpener.
On May 4 last year, Simpson was left with a bloody nose after an altercation at his home.
He chased the man down Sidney Street while armed with a knife sharpener and struck him on the body with it, landing two blows.
At Dundee Sheriff Court, Simpson admitted assault, weapon possession and acting threateningly, as well as missing a previous court hearing.
He was remanded by Sheriff Alastair Carmichael, who ordered reports and deferred sentence until January 6.
Dundee rampage
A rampaging topless Dundee man had to be sedated by hospital staff after hurling masonry at police from inside a locked Kirkton allotment. Josh Bray admitted resisting five constables who tried to arrest him during the drunken spree.
Sexual offences
Ryan Chalmers, 35, from Fife has been jailed for a total of five years.
He was convicted of five offences including attempted rape under the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act s1 and was sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh.
He was further convicted of sexual assault, two charges of stalking and engaging in a course of abusive behaviour.
Chalmers was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
