A Fife sex offender who defied a ban on contacting teenage girls has been jailed after officials deemed him a risk to the community.
Kamran Saeed will serve more than two and a half years behind bars.
Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard the 41-year-old had been contacting a girl on Snapchat.
This went against a Sexual Offenders Prevention Order (SOPO), which barred him from owning a smartphone or contacting any female under the age of 16.
The girl is also said to have sent him an picture which constituted an indecent image of a child – a further offence.
Sentence had been deferred until last week for reports.
‘Can’t be managed in community’
Sheriff Susan Duff expressed concerns social workers who had written reports on Saeed had criticised his attitude to offending, describing him as “manipulative and deceitful”.
She said: “I read the social work report and the restriction of liberty order report and the authors are concerned that your risks can’t be managed in the community.
“It’s clear from the report that you have no regard for others.
“You deliberately obtained an internet-enabled mobile phone, knowing you were breaching your Sexual Offenders Prevention Order and you did not report it to your supervising officer.
“Not only did you do that, you installed Snapchat and for three months you were communicating with a person you considered to be a child
“That person sent you photos of a child who appeared to be 14, including a category C image.”
Indefinite registration
She jailed Saeed for a total of 140 weeks and he was placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.
Saeed, 41, of Orebank Road, Cardenden admitted breaching the January 202 order between June 15 and September 15 that year.
Saeed also admitted that between June 15 and September 15, 2020, at his home, he was in possession of an indecent photograph of a child.
