A knife-wielding thug from Fife who was Tasered during an attack on police has been told by a sheriff to get a hobby to keep him out of trouble.
Ceiryn Meade was being sentenced for threatening and abusive behaviour and weapon possession on January 17 2021 in Boyle Drive, Rosyth.
He had “charged” down his mother’s stairs towards officers after earlier appearing topless on the street and chasing a car while holding a blade.
Meade, of Links Place in Burntisland, had been taking Valium and drinking Buckfast and vodka at the time.
The 23-year-old is also on a community payback order for a transphobic attack in February 2019.
Solicitor Zander Flett told Dunfermline Sheriff Court his client had developed a tendency to drink at home alone to avoid trouble.
Sheriff Susan Duff recommended he join the Andy Man’s Club as a way of meeting new people, telling him to “get a hobby”.
She placed him on an 18-month supervision order.
Chased car with knife
Procurator fiscal depute Laura McManus previously told the court Meade first “squared up” to his mother with the blade after she called police about his behaviour.
Topless, he went into the street with the weapon and a driver noticed him “waving something in his hand”.
The fiscal depute said: “As the witness slowed, the accused began running towards the car and they saw the accused had an item in their hand.
“Fearing the accused had a knife she immediately drove off.”
Armed police arrived because they had received several calls about the incident.
Meade had returned inside and police – who had identified themselves as armed – were met by him at the top of the stairs, holding a large, black-handled kitchen knife.
He refused to drop it and “charged downstairs towards officers while holding the knife in his right hand towards officers” so they Tasered him.
Transphobic horror
Meade previously appeared at Dunfermline in June 2022 for the transphobic attack in the city.
He and an accomplice, Mark Jeffrey, bottled and stamped on Miss Transgender UK 2019, Aria Welsh and told her they would “kill her” because they would not accept transgender people in their town.
The pair admitted the attack and Meade was given 135 hours of unpaid work, an eight-month curfew and a supervision order for two years.
