A man tried to headbutt two police constables during a rammy outside an Arbroath pub.
Aiden Butchart assaulted the pair outside Thee Fab Pub at the town’s Lordburn on February 19 last year.
Officers were there due to a disturbance and found a number of people outside.
They tried to take a hold of Butchart to move him to a quieter space and he reacted by saying: “Get your f***ing hands off me.”
As well as attempting to headbutt both officers, Butchart shouted and swore aggressively and made derogatory comments, calling police “piggy b*****ds”.
After being arrested, he refused to tell officers his name or address.
The 23-year-old, of Seafield Road in Arbroath, previously wrote to Forfar Sheriff Court pleading guilty.
Solicitor Billy Rennie said: “There had been an incident in the pub where he was.
“He wasn’t part of it but he was dragged into it.”
Sheriff Krista Johnston fined the first offender £320.
She said: “It’s unfortunate that this will result in you having these charges on your record. You’re still a young man.”

At that hearing on July 8 last year, Flynn was ordered to be of good behaviour and having not come to the attention of the law since, he was admonished by Justice of the Peace Andrew Gourlay.

Coke found in raid
A Perth man was caught with £600 of cocaine during a police raid on his home in Caledonia Court on October 5 2021.
James Foley was originally charged with being concerned in the supply of the class A drug but admitted a lesser charge of possession.
Fiscal depute David Currie said the drug was “not packaged in a way that it would be resold.”
The court heard the 25-year-old was living on benefits and struggling to heat his home.
Sheriff Derek Reekie told Foley: “I understand you have limited means and as a result, I am unable to impose any meaningful financial penalty” so ordered him to carry out 75 hours of unpaid work.
Life may not mean life

Punch kill warning
A Dunfermline pub-goer who punched another punter for “staring at him” has been told to carry out unpaid work.
David Bailey, 27, hit Brian Brown three times in the face at Coadys in the city’s Pilmuir Street on June 11 2021.
Bailey, of, Maitland Street, previously pled guilty to the assault to injury charge at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
Procurator fiscal depute Azrah Yousaf told the court Bailey and his victim were sitting at opposite tables in the pub.
“About 11:15pm the complainer was outside and leaving the premises and approached by the accused and (he) starts to tell him he was staring at him during the night.”
The fiscal said Bailey then punched him three times on the face, before telling the victim his name and leaving.
The court heard police were contacted and Bailey was identified on Facebook.
Defence lawyer Aime Allan said Bailey, an industrial janitor, has no recollection of the events but accepts responsibility.
Sheriff Peter Anderson warned Bailey: “You could have killed someone if you punched them.
“Fortunately in this case the injuries were sufficiently minor.
“Given your previous convictions there is a real risk of going to jail if you commit any sort of offences again”.
Sheriff Anderson sentenced Bailey to 120 hours of unpaid work and 12 months of supervision as part of a community payback order.
