An Arbroath man hurled a brick through a police station window just hours after being released from prison.
James Brown has been given another spell behind bars for the offence, born of “frustration” with the police in his home town.
At a hearing at Dundee Sheriff Court on Tuesday, Brown was released from a seven-day spell on remand.
The 36-year-old was subject to a string of strict bail conditions.
He was unable to enter his Brechin Road home due to someone he was banned from contacting being inside.
Concerned he had only the clothes he was wearing, he approached staff at Arbroath police station for advice.
‘A pretty dreadful record’
After becoming frustrated by what he was told, Brown left the police station a little after 6.30pm.
Shortly afterwards, officers inside heard a loud bang.
Angry Brown had thrown a brick at one of the station’s windows, damaging it.
He appeared back in the dock in Dundee from custody on Wednesday and admitted the vandalism.
Defending, solicitor Grant Bruce acknowledged: “He has a record.”
Sheriff Gregor Murray jailed Brown for 140 days.
He said: “I accept your honesty in taking account of what you did.
“You’ve a pretty dreadful record and a very bad record for breaching bail.
“The locus you threw a brick at was a police station.”
