A dealer who operated a drugs-on-wheels service in Perth was caught with nearly £4,000 of cocaine and cash stuffed in his underpants.
Police uncovered wads of banknotes, bags of cocaine, electronic scales and other paraphernalia when they pulled over Matthew Dewar’s Audi S3 in the city’s Oakbank area.
Perth Sheriff Court heard the 25-year-old was spotted by officers stuffing items into his trousers.
At first he denied he was hiding anything but eventually relented and produced cash and drugs from his pants.
Dewar, of Glenfarg Terrace, admitted being concerned in the supply of the class A substance in Viewlands Road West between July 31 and September 3, 2021.
He will be sentenced next month.
Mobile drug service
Fiscal depute Michael Sweeney told the court: “The accused is the owner and registered keeper of a blue Audi S3.
“This vehicle was spotted by police on mobile patrol in Viewlands Road West just before 6pm on September 3, 2021.
“Officers activated their blue lights and sirens and the car came to a stop.”
Mr Sweeney said: “The accused was alone in the driver’s seat.
“As approached officers, he was seen taking items from the central console and concealing them in the front of his trousers.”
Dewar initially denied he was hiding anything and was told to step out of the car.
The fiscal depute said: “The accused was secured in handcuffs and was informed he was about to be searched.
“The accused then admitted he had concealed items and pulled £690 in cash out of his underwear.”
Drug analysis
A further £30, a mobile phone, digital scales and empty snapbags were found inside the car.
“The accused was then informed he would be conveyed to Perth police station,” Mr Sweeney said.
“He told officers he had more items concealed inside his underwear.
“He pulled out two bags containing white powder and £950 in banknotes.”
The fiscal depute said the scales and some of the bags had traces of cocaine.
“The two bags containing white powder were of similar weight and size,” he said. “One was weighed and tested and found to contain 13.88g of cocaine with a value of around £800 – or £1,120 if sold in one-gram bags.”
“Several text messages relating to the sell of cocaine were found on the accused’s mobile phone,” Mr Sweeney said.
Dewar’s solicitor told the court: “He appreciates that this is a serious charge.”
Sheriff Grant McCulloch deferred sentence for background reports until February 22.
