A Dundee woman assaulted a police officer after getting turfed off a train at Perth Railway Station.
Police were contacted by Scotrail staff following an “ongoing disturbance” on the Aberdeen-bound service.
Officers met the train at the platform, where staff pointed them in the direction of two rowdy passengers.
Raegen McGregor and another person were removed from the train.
The 27-year-old single mum spat in the face of PC Robert Roger as she was placed in the back of a police van.
She appeared at Perth Sheriff Court last week and admitted assaulting the officer on March 19 2022.
Her lawyer has urged the court not to send her to prison.
Arrested outside station
Fiscal depute Michael Sweeney said: “Around 10.30pm, police officers were asked to attend at Perth Railway Station by the control room there.
“This was in relation to an ongoing disturbance on a train that was due to arrive on platform two.”
Mr Sweeney said: “Police attended and boarded the train.
“A staff member asked them to remove the accused and another individual.
“They were both taken off the train and conveyed to the front of the railway station.
“The accused was behaving in an erratic manner which led to her arrest.”
McGregor was handcuffed and placed in the back of a waiting police van, the fiscal depute said.
“Whilst she was in the caged area, she spat in the face of PC Roger.
“She was then informed she was being arrested for assault and a spithood was placed over her head.”
McGregor, of Honeygreen Road, was taken into custody and appeared in court on petition two days later.
Solicitor Jane Caird, defending, said: “I would certainly hope that there is something that this court can do for Ms McGregor other than a custodial sentence.
“However, she does understand this is a serious offence and she is very remorseful.”
Ms Caird confirmed that her client had no previous criminal convictions.
Sheriff Paul Reid deferred sentence until March 1 for background reports.
