A woman has told how she tried to escape from her boyfriend’s car following a terrifying high-speed journey through the Kinross-shire countryside.
Jessica McMillan fled Stephen King’s vehicle as he drove along the Kinross to Kincardine road at the start of the year.
However she said the 27-year-old had dragged her back to the car and taken off, crashing the gold-coloured Volvo into a ditch while ripping out her hair extensions, and then driving off again.
Her ordeal only came to an end when King was stopped by an unmarked police vehicle.
The beauty therapist said she had stormed out of King’s home after an argument but as she went to get cash for a bus home he pulled up behind her and demanded she get in.
The 25-year-old said: “I was really scared. I didn’t know what was going to happen.
“He was extremely angry. He said he was taking me out to the country where nobody could see – he said he was going to hurt me.
“He slowed to go into a country lane and I threw open the door and ran. I tried to run as fast as I could but he was out of the car and chasing me. I fell to the ground but he picked me up and carried me back to the car.
“I felt like there was nothing I could do.”
Footage from the unmarked police car showed that once King’s vehicle had been stopped, Ms McMillan ran into the arms of police officers.
Ms McMillan denied a suggestion by defence solicitor David Holmes that she was giving a version of events designed to portray her in the best possible light to social workers.
It is alleged that King abducted Jessica McMillan on Kinross High Street and the A977 road by demanding that she get into his car, threatening her with violence and making threats to kill her and dragging her back to the car when she escaped.
It is further alleged that the he drove dangerously while at speed, crashing into a ditch, and also that he drove without insurance.
All the alleged offences are said to have taken place on January 31 this year.
The trial before Sheriff Lindsay Foulis continues.
