Two Dundonians have been remanded after allegedly attempting to murder a pair of on-duty police officers.
Paul Coombs, of Lorimer Street, and George Drinnan, of Dalmahoy Drive, were remanded after appearing at a private hearing at Dundee Sheriff Court.
Both Coombs, 51, and Drinnan, 37, are accused of attempting to kill constables Matthew Rhind and Younis Yaqub at Americanmuir Road in Dundee on February 6.
Court papers allege they repeatedly drove a BMW car at the on-duty officers, at speed, and attempted to strike them with the vehicle.
It is alleged this was an attempt by both men to murder the police officers.
Dangerous driving charges
Drinnan faces another charge of driving dangerously on Americanmuir Road by travelling at excessive speed and striking a parked police vehicle, causing damage to both the BMW and the squad car.
Coombs also faces a dangerous driving charge.
He is alleged to have repeatedly reversed the BMW at excessive speed and sped at a pedestrian footpath, before striking a parked car at speed.
It is alleged that car went on to collide with another vehicle and both were damaged.
Coombs is accused of then speeding towards a police vehicle and striking it too.
The charges allege this also all took place at Americanmuir Road.
Both men also face allegations they were disqualified at the time and also that neither was insured.
In the dock, both men were aided by a sign language interpreter and made no plea.
After appearing from custody for the petition hearing, Sheriff George Way remanded the two men.
They are expected back in court next week for a further appearance in connection with the allegations.
