A Dundee man has been remanded after being accused of causing a Hilltown siege which forced a major emergency service response.
Police, paramedics and Scottish Fire and Rescue (SFRS) all attended the lengthy incident on Monday.
Andrew Pattie appeared from custody at a private hearing at Dundee Sheriff Court.
He is alleged to have assaulted a woman and injured her at Bonnethill Court, where he lives, on February 27.
Pattie is alleged to have seized her by the hair and punched her on the head.
Glass, smoke and threats
He is then accused of culpably and recklessly smashing the window of his 10th floor flat, causing glass to fall down to the ground.
Court papers further allege he threw items out the window, creating a risk for people and property below.
The 30-year-old is accused of acting threateningly by threatening to stab and injure police and threatening to stab and kill himself.
He is also accused of acting in a disorderly manner by causing a significant quantity of smoke to emit within his 10th floor flat, instigating the evacuation of six floors within the building.
Pattie is accused of also repeatedly threatening to throw himself from the tenth floor window.
It is alleged this breach of the peace necessitated the Scottish Ambulance Service, police and SFRS to attend and necessitated space outside the block to be cordoned off.
Ninewells charge
The charges Pattie faces also include acting threateningly, evading police by climbing from the 13th floor to the 12th floor and forcing his way into another occupied flat.
While on the 13th floor, he is accused of repeatedly threatening to stab and injure police, repeatedly threatening to stab and kill himself, refusing entry to police and threatening to hold the occupier hostage.
A final charge alleges that later that day at Ninewells short stay ward, he assaulted constable Gavin Ogilvie by attempting to bite him.
At the petition hearing, Pattie made no plea and was remanded by Sheriff Mark O’Hanlon.
He is expected back in court next week.
