A Dundee man caught with a lock knife near the Midcraigie Retail park has avoided prison.
Steven Holmes, 38, previously admitted possessing the weapon at Longtown Road on May 6 2020 and missing a Dundee Sheriff Court court appearance on December 22 the following year.
Holmes, of Finlairg Terrace, was ordered to complete 190 hours of unpaid work and will also be supervised for the next year.
Dog saved
An out-of-control bulldog which hospitalised three men in a month in Dundee has been saved from death row. However, its owner Gary Myles has been jailed for 15 months and banned from keeping dogs for three years.
Ableist outburst
A Perth man has admitted an ableist outburst at Perth Royal Infirmary.
Dawid Modrzenjewski, 33, pled guilty to two charges of behaving in an abusive or threatening manner.
Perth Sheriff Court heard he acted in a way that was likely to cause fear or alarm at a Pomarium Street flat on November 11 last year.
He repeatedly shouted, swore and acted in an aggressive manner.
The following day, he behaved in a similar manner at PRI and Greyfriars’ homeless hostel.
He repeatedly struck his head on a police vehicle, spat on a door, made derogatory comments to police and caused a mobile phone to be damaged.
Court papers state the charge was aggravated by prejudice towards people who had a disability.
Modrzejewski, of Cairns Crescent, will be sentenced on April 5.
No child contact
A paedophile who carried out a sex crime against a 14-year-old girl has been banned from starting any new relationship without special permission. Coral Scott – also known as Ryan according to court papers – has also been banned from having any unsupervised contact with any child under the age of 16 as part of a supervision order.
Token theft
A homeless Dundee thief has been locked up after raiding a locked city washing machine and making off with £19 of tokens.
Jacek Turek, 29, was brought from prison to Dundee Sheriff Court where he admitted raiding the Elders Court machine on August 2 last year.
He was jailed for two months.
Last month, Turek was locked up after stealing a bike and biting the man who saw him pinch it.
On that occasion, Sheriff Alastair Carmichael sentenced Turek to concurrent three-month prison sentences for the theft and the assault.
Crack transport team
Ali Danesh and Gerald Duffus were caught transporting thousands of pounds worth of crack cocaine between Perth and Dundee. The pair from Birmingham were pulled over by police on the A90, near Inchture and jury found them guilty of being involved in the supply of cocaine and cannabis.
Case deserted
Court proceedings against a Perthshire man accused of driving a car at his ex-girlfriend has been shelved.
Cameron Stewart faced allegations he engaged in a course of abusive behaviour against the woman in August last year.
The 21-year-old, from Balbeggie, was accused of standing in front of a vehicle being driven by his partner or former partner on Mill Street, Perth, on August 2.
It was alleged he shouted, swore and made threats of violence.
Stewart was further accused of driving a car at the same woman in Mill Street, shouting and uttering threats, four days later.
It was also alleged he attended at her home address and repeatedly shouted at her.
Stewart denied the charge when he appeared at Perth Sheriff Court and Sheriff Gillian Wade deserted proceedings pro loco et tempori after hearing key witnesses had failed to attend.
Pumped
A Dundee MMA fighter drunkenly crashed a scaffolding van into petrol pumps at a city filling station. Kevin Lobban ploughed into the recently-installed pump at the Forfar Road filling station and an employee who tried to stop him had to dive out the way of his van.
