A pensioner found injured in Dundee following an alleged assault has died, police have revealed.
The 66-year-old was found after emergency services were called to a property in Stobswell at the weekend.
The woman, whose identity has not been revealed, was rushed to hospital but has since died.
A man appeared in court in connection with the incident earlier this week.
Police statement
A Police Scotland spokesperson told The Courier: “Around 11.30pm on Sunday March 5 2023, officers were called to a property on Erskine Street, Dundee, following a report of a disturbance.
“A 66-year-old woman was found injured and was taken to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.
“A 39-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear before Dundee Sheriff Court.
“The woman has since died and enquiries are ongoing.”
Court appearance
Steven John James McCulloch appeared in private at Dundee Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
The 39-year-old, from Dundee, appeared on a petition alleging three offences.
He was charged with assault to severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
He is further accused of a breach of the Police and Fire Reform (Scotland) Act 2012, in that he resisted, obstructed or hindered police officers.
He also faces an allegation of assault.
McCulloch made no plea and was committed for further examination and remanded in custody
He is due to appear again in Dundee Sheriff Court within eight days of his petition hearing.
