A Hogmanay reveller attacked two women after drinking a “ridiculously excessive” amount of alcohol.
Colin Crichton, of Oaklea in Saline, slapped his wife and shoved a teenager during a disturbance at a house in Aberdour in the early hours of January 1.
The 41-year-old pled guilty to the assaults at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and making threats of violence.
Procurator fiscal depute Catherine Stevenson told the court Crichton had shouted the words “I will kill you” during the commotion.
The fiscal said Crichton was described as being in a “drunken argumentative state” and struck his wife in the face “using the back of his hand”.
Ms Stevenson said: “The accused proceeded to strike her again on the side of the face”.
A teenager then tried to intervene but was pushed in the arm by Crichton, resulting in her falling to the ground and hitting her head.
Defence lawyer Aime Allan said Crichton had consumed a “ridiculously excessive amount of alcohol” and has no recollection of the incident.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis told him: “You really don’t need me to tell you, your behaviour was totally out of order”.
The sheriff sentenced Crichton to 120 hours of unpaid work as a direct alternative to custody.
Lovesick stalker
A serial stalker plagued a “terrified” Perth woman with hundreds of texts and phone calls after her unwanted romantic advances were rejected.
Lovesick Jilly Mackay harassed her victim for almost a year, before turning up on her doorstep.
Perth Sheriff Court heard that the woman received 650 missed calls in one day and was forced to unplug her landline.
She called police on Mackay three times and was forced to keep her talking on her doorbell camera for two hours before officers arrived to take her away.
Mackay pleaded guilty to engaging in a course of conduct that caused her victim fear or alarm between October 14 2021 and September 17 2022.
The court heard that the 41-year-old, from Pilton, Edinburgh, had a “remarkably similar” previous conviction which resulted in a five year non-harassment order.
Lager thief abused mum
A Dundee thug spat on police, stole beer from an off-licence and threatened his mother during a month-long campaign of abuse.
David Conroy, 23, appeared from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court and admitted a string of offences including theft, assault and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
Depute fiscal Lynn Mannion told the court Conroy went to his mother’s house in Happyhillock at about 3pm on June 4.
“He was under the influence of alcohol but not overly intoxicated,” Ms Mannion said.
“He went into the living room and asked her for £10, which she gave him.
“He left the house and returned at 8.15pm, very drunk.”
The prosecutor said: “He went back into the living room and called his mother a ‘whore’ and ‘prostitute’.
“She contacted the police.”
Conroy was arrested later that night.
The court heard of another incident four days later at the News, Food and Wine shop in Hilltown.
He was spotted by police walking away with a crate of Tennent’s lager.
Staff confirmed he had not paid for it.
Ms Mannion said Conroy kicked out when officers tried to handcuff him.
“He spat into one officer’s face,” she said. “A spit hood was then applied.”
Later that week Conroy appeared at his sister’s home, where he kicked her door and head butted it.
When he was arrested he shouted “up the IRA” and was charged with making sectarian remarks.
Sentence was deferred until next month and Conroy was remanded in custody.
Tried to torch husband
A Dundee woman who tried to set fire to her husband after accusing him of having an affair has been spared prison.
Farah Al-Nuaimi flew into a jealous rage when she heard her husband speaking to another woman on the phone.
The woman turned out to be his daughter from another relationship.
Grabbing a napkin, Al-Nuaimi threatened to “burn the house down” before taking a lighter to his jumper.
Al-Nuaimi, 34, admitted a charge of reckless conduct and assault on January 9 when she appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court.
