A former Royal Navy seaman threatened to send a sexually explicit video of a woman to her son’s school.
Greg Tipling also racially abused his victim, who is not originally from the UK, Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court heard.
The 33-year-old, from Glenrothes, then threatened to “petrol bomb” the home of the woman’s partner.
His actions were described by a sheriff as “distasteful and moronic.”
Series of threats
Fiscal depute Eve McKaig told the court Tipling had referred to her as a “black c***” in a message, before escalating to threats.
“She also received a message threatening to disclose intimate videos,” the prosecutor said.
Tipling told his victim: “Crack on and I will send everyone the video of you (performing a sex act).
“Then I’ll send it to (her son) first off, if you want to go down that road.”
Ms McKaig said: “She received another message saying ‘I’ll be putting a video online of you… and send it to your son’s school then.’
“The woman was aware that the accused had videos of that nature and was fearful of his actions.”
Petrol bomb
In other messages, Tipling threatened to “petrol bomb” the house of the woman’s partner, and in a voice message he threatened to attack him.
Tipling’s solicitor said he did not have any intimate videos and the threats had been made in anger.
He said: “This was borne out of hurt and upset, which turned into bitterness and anger.
“He’s now moved on.
“He’s mortified by his own actions.
“There was no video – they were words said to cause hurt and upset.”
Tipling, of Auchmithie Place, Glenrothes, admitted sending a series of grossly offensive messages to a man and woman between April and December last year.
He also repeatedly issued threats of violence.
Sheriff Robert More blasted Tipling for his actions.
He said: “Obviously very distasteful and moronic things were said by you.”
He fined Tipling £1,000 and also banned him from contacting the woman for two years.
