A heavy metal singer has been found guilty of raping three women at locations in Dundee.
Lewis Brodie attacked one of his victims while she slept and another after she had withdrawn consent, the city’s high court heard.
After hearing harrowing evidence from each of the 28-year-old’s accusers, jurors deliberated for almost a full day before returning a guilty verdict.
Brodie, of Monifieth, was remanded in custody ahead of sentencing at the High Court in Edinburgh next month.
He wept as he was led from the dock.
Members of his family were asked to leave the court as they protested his innocence.
Victim’s evidence
The trial was closed to the public while each of Brodie’s victims gave their evidence.
Jurors heard that the first attack happened at a house in Broughty Ferry.
Brodie raped the woman while she was intoxicated and asleep.
She told the court how she woke up as he was assaulting her.
But he did not stop once she was awake.
The second incident took place at an address in Dens Road.
The trial heard that sexual activity between Brodie and the woman was at first consensual.
But when he sexually violated her with his hand, she told him to stop.
He refused and continued to rape her.
Jurors heard that the third victim was attacked at a property in Charleston.
During the incident, Brodie repeatedly tried to kiss her, removed her lower clothing and then raped her.
The first attack happened in 2010 and the others during 2019.
Promising musician
Barman Brodie, who was placed on the Sex Offenders Register following the jury’s majority verdict, is a vocalist and guitarist with metal band The Weight of Atlas.
The group has toured the UK and Europe and accrued tens of thousands of clicks on YouTube and Spotify.
Defence advocate Gordon Jackson KC reserved mitigation for the sentencing hearing on April 21.
