A blacksmith-turned-hairdresser caught with nearly £400 of drugs in a Perth street attempted to negotiate the terms of his community work order with a sheriff.
Declan Foley appeared at the city’s sheriff court and admitted possessing 6.4g of cocaine with a street value of £350, in Foundry Lane on October 14 last year.
The 24-year-old, of Smillie Place, Bridge of Earn, also had about £35 of cannabis.
Foley was originally charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine but prosecutors accepts his guilty plea to the lesser charge.
The court heard the former apprentice blacksmith Foley is now a qualified hairdresser.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis ordered him to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.
Foley asked: “Can I do it on Sundays and Mondays?”
The sheriff replied: “That’s a matter for social workers, not for me.”
Singer guilty
Heavy metal singer Lewis Brodie, 28, from Monifieth has been found guilty of raping three women in Dundee. Brodie was remanded after jurors returned the guilty verdicts at the High Court in Dundee and he will be sentenced in Edinburgh next month.
Knifeman threats
A Perth man who made violent threats while brandishing four kitchen knives at police officers has been placed on supervision.
Thomas Davidson was found guilty after trial of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at his home in Westfield, Luncarty, on October 5, last year.
The 46-year-old shouted, swore, made threats of violence, brandished knives towards police officers and threatened to harm himself.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis issued a one-year supervision order.
The four knives have been forfeited.
School video threat
Former Royal Navy seaman Greg Tipling, 33, threatened to send a sexually explicit video of a woman to her son’s school. He also racially abused his victim, then threatened to “petrol bomb” the home of the woman’s partner. His actions were described by a sheriff as “distasteful and moronic.”
A man has admitted chasing members of the public around a Perth shop.
Marek Paluch appeared at Perth Sheriff Court and pled guilty to acting in a threatening or abusive manner, likely to case fear or alarm, on June 10 2022 at the Co-op in Tulloch Square.
The 30-year-old shouted, swore, acted aggressively and ran and chased people.
Paluch, of Wallace Crescent, also damaged and kicked the bonnet of a Vauxhall Astra, causing about £150 worth of damage to the vehicle.
Solicitor Steve Lafferty, defending, said his client was battling an alcohol problem.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis deferred sentence.
