A mum went on a festive rampage after her friend was attacked at a city bar, swinging a bar stool at her victim’s head.
A Christmas night out turned sour at Kandy bar on Seagate as an altercation was played out between two groups.
Bar staff had to disarm mother-of-one Ashley Wilson of her improvised weapon as she went for another swing.
CCTV of the rammy was shown to Dundee Sheriff Court, with Wilson notable in a red festive sweatshirt.
The footage showed retail manager Wilson, 40, pick up one of the tall stools perched at a nearby table.
She threw the chair, striking the complainer on the head.
Stool attack
Depute fiscal Calum Brown told the court: “At approximately 9.20pm, December 6 2021, witnesses at the bar were visibly intoxicated.
“The accused was at the bar with another and was also intoxicated.
“Another matter which was before the court took place – it involved the complainer and another person (not before the court)
“There was a disagreement, which everyone became engaged in.
“The accused picked up a stool and swung it.
“It missed the target.
“She picked up another and it made contact with the complainer’s head.”
‘Out of character’
In mitigation, defence solicitor John Boyle said: “She was with friends.
“Her friend was assaulted by a group of people.
“She intervened to try and stop it. She was pushed over.
“She reacted by grabbing a stool.
“This is entirely out of character for her. She is a retail manager.
Sheriff Peter Grant-Hutchison fined Wilson, of Aberdour Place, Broughty Ferry, £340.
He said: “I accept this is entirely out of character.
“It is a shame you now have a criminal record.”
