A photographer was caught with more than £1,000 worth of cannabis in his car because the smell wafted from his open window and attracted passing police officers.
Award-winning design student Cristian Shearer-Felipe was pulled over by police and found to be driving under the influence of cannabis on September 7 last year.
Perth Sheriff Court was told he was peddling the drug to his friends and had 126 grammes when he was stopped on the A85 outside Perth.
Smelled cannabis from car
Fiscal depute Andrew Harding told the court: “Police were on mobile patrol at 1pm.
“They observed the accused driving.
“He was the sole occupant and had the window open.
“Officers noted a smell of cannabis from the vehicle.
“As they approached the open window they noted a pungent smell of cannabis and his eyes were bloodshot.
“He admitted at interview that the cannabis was for the use of him and his friends.
“Essentially he had three other friends who all put in money, he would collect the cannabis and supplied it among them.”
Fined and banned
Shearer-Felipe, 24, from Perth, admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis and driving under the influence of the drug near Huntingtower.
Solicitor David Holmes, defending, said: “He felt able to drive.
“What he said to police was exactly the position. He works for himself.”
Sheriff Mungo Bovey fined him £1,500 and banned him from driving for 12 months.
