A teenager has appeared in court accused of murdering Perth man Cameron Rae.
Caleb Ferguson faces allegations he killed the 20-year-old by stabbing him repeatedly with a knife or similar weapon at a flat in the city’s South Methven Street at the weekend.
The 18-year-old is further accused of assaulting two people whose identities are unknown to prosecutors by punching and kicking them on the head and body.
Ferguson, also known as Nicoll, made no plea during his private appearance on petition at Perth Sheriff Court.
The teenager, of Bute Drive, Perth, was remanded in custody and is due to make a second appearance next week.
Tributes to ‘happy-go-lucky guy’
Mr Rae was found seriously injured in South Methven Street on Saturday night.
He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
Ferguson was arrested on Sunday and charged with Mr Rae’s alleged murder the following day.
A 17-year-old youth was also arrested, but was released pending further enquiries.
Friends of Mr Rae gathered on Kinnoull Hill to pay tribute.
His mother told The Courier: “Cameron was a total clown but a good, funny one.
“The whole of Perth is hurting.”
In a post on social media, she said: “Fly high my boy. We were so, so proud of you son.
“I will always love you my wee cheeky Cammy. You were just a big lump of fun, always wanting a carry on.”
The manager of the Sandeman pub, where Mr Rae visited shortly before his death, has also paid tribute.
Mark Stuart said: “He was a happy-go-lucky guy and always had craic with the staff.
“He’d always bring a smile to your face.”
An online fundraiser has nearly tripled its goal of raising £5,000 to give Mr Rae “the best send off”.
