A teenager has appeared in court in connection with a serious assault in Burntisland on Friday night.
David Pearson, 19, who lives in the town, made a private appearance before a sheriff in Kirkcaldy,
He made no plea or declaration to two charges alleging assault to severe injury and assault to injury.
Pearson was remanded in custody pending further examination of the case.
A date for his next appearance has yet to be set.
A 13-year-old boy has also been charged in connection with the incident in Dick Crescent and a report will be submitted to the children’s reporter.
Police say they are following several lines of positive inquiry in relation to a number of other young suspects.
A 33-year-old man required significant treatment to serious facial injuries after being attacked by a large group of youths in the street.
An eye-witness described the assault as both vicious and frightening and said some members of the group had been using sticks and poles to beat the victim.
