A 25-year-old Dunfermline man has appeared in court accused of raping another man in the city.

Alfonso Lopes appeared in private at Dunfermline Sheriff Court to face the charge under Section 1 the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009.

Lopes, who appeared from custody and was assisted by a Portuguese interpreter, made no plea and was committed for further examination and granted bail.

The alleged incident is said to have taken place last week at a property in Dunfermline.

Illicit snap

An Uber Eats driver hit the bottle and photographed a child’s bottom in Forfar McDonald’s. Eduards Salajevs abandoned his work and began drinking after driving to the busy restaurant, where he took the picture of the teenager.

Eduards Salajevs leaves Forfar Sheriff Court.

Stabbing in Arbroath

A woman has admitted stabbing her partner in Arbroath in a grisly domestic assault.

Ashley McGregor admitted assaulting David Lyall, who is listed in court papers as being her partner or former partner, at her Chalmers Street home on March 6 last year.

The 49-year-old pled guilty to threatening to kill Mr Lyall before injuring him with the knife.

McGregor also admitted acting in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and threatening Mr Lyall.

At Forfar Sheriff Court, Sheriff Krista Johnstone ordered reports ahead of sentencing on June 29.

95mph speeder

A care worker tore through roadworks on the A9 at nearly twice the speed limit. Eilidh Wild, 23, was going to a friend in distress when motored through a temporary 50mph section of the dual carriageway near Luncarty at 95mph.

Tried to bite police

A man who hid in a cupboard from police, then tried to bite them when they arrested him, has been handed a restriction of liberty order keeping him at his home address from 9pm to 6am for six months.

Dundee Sheriff Court previously heard police were called to Finlarig Place, Dundee by a witness because Naser Ghafoor, 40, was in her house.

He was in an upstairs cupboard and refused to believe the police officers were genuine.

As he was arrested, he became aggressive and flailed and tensed his arms, shouted and swore and attempted to bite one on the arm.

Ghafoor, of Finlarig Place, admitted the October 27 2022 assault.

Fireball tragedy

A drink-and-drugs-fuelled driver from Angus ignored “petrified” pleas to slow down moments before a devastating fireball crash that left a teenager paralysed. David Will from near Brechin was “showing off” to his two passengers when he hit speeds of 120mph while under the influence, a court heard.

David Will’s car was engulfed in flames and left burn marks on the A93.

Abusive conduct

Jonathan Sinclair, 33, of Grange Place, Monifieth has been fined after admitting a course of abuse of his partner during the breakdown of their relationship.

At Forfar Sheriff Court he admitted the abusive behaviour in July and September of 2020.

During July, he acted aggressively and shouted and swore at the woman and referred to her in a derogatory manner at his home.

His solicitor Angela McLardy said various factors had been stressing her client, including the sale of the couple’s house.

Sheriff Garry Sutherland fined him £640 but opted not to impose a non-harassment order.

‘The Polish way’

A lorry driver assaulted a 13-year-old boy who played chap-door-run on his Perth flat and told police he was dealing with the nuisance “the Polish way”. Wojciech Ropa said he was “at the end of his tether” when he pounced on the youngster, dragged him into the street and punched him in the face.

Wojciech Ropa appeared at Perth Sheriff Court.
