A serial domestic abuser breached strict court conditions by repeatedly and menacingly phoning his ex-girlfriend and at one point, threatening to kill her.
Dale Ramsay, 29, was ordered not to contact the mother of his children by any means after being previously convicted of abusing her.
Despite this, he made numerous phone calls over the course of more than a year, in direct contravention of his non-harassment order.
Ramsay appeared from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court, which heard his new partner is expecting his child within the next two months — prompting Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown to ask if she was aware of Ramsay’s multiple domestic offences.
Death threat
Depute fiscal Lynne Mannion told the court: “On December 6 2021 the complainer received a call from a withheld number.
“She asked who it was and received the response ‘who the f**k else is it going to be?’
“He then told her to ‘turn her cameras off’ and continued to call her.
“He added ‘you better not be recording me’.
“He then said ‘do you know what I’m going to do? I’m going to f***ing kill you’.”
Further court appearance
Ramsay appeared on petition from custody, having been arrested for the breach, on December 13 2021.
His response to caution and charge was “I never did it”.
In April 30 2022, he again called the woman while intoxicated.
His victim received multiple calls.
He asked to borrow money from her, the court heard, and when he was told he would be getting nothing, he became angry.
His former partner told him to leave her alone but he continued to call her.
Ramsay was later arrested on another matter.
Calls resume
On November 5 2022 his victim received more calls, this time on social media app Snapchat.
She answered to tell him to leave her alone, Ms Mannion told the court.
“She received further calls.
“He screamed and shouted about money.
“She was fearful of how the accused would react if she did not answer his calls.”
Again, he was arrested after police arrived at his new partner’s address
She let them into the house, where officers found him hiding under her bed.
‘No insight into behaviour’
Defence solicitor Mike Short, in mitigation, said: “He has no insight into his behaviour.”
He did note Ramsay had not gone to the woman’s address, despite threatening to do so.
Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown deferred sentence for reports until June 15.
Ramsay, off Bonnybank Road, admitted four domestically aggravated charges committed between December 2021 and November 2022.
