Liam Sinclair, 21, also admitted pushing the woman onto a table which broke during a 16-month campaign of violence.

A Brechin bully pushed his partner through a table and slapped her because the WiFi cut out during a 16 month campaign of domestic violence.

Slaughterhouse worker Liam Sinclair admitted attacking his partner multiple times between March 2021 and July 2022.

He slapped her while she fed a child and pushing her onto a table which broke.

Sinclair also breached strict bail conditions not to go near the woman.

Forfar Sheriff Court heard Sinclair already had two previous convictions for violent conduct.

He will be sentenced in July after background reports have been prepared.

Assaults

Fiscal depute Christine Allan explained Sinclair’s first attack came on March 1, 2021.

He and his partner had been arguing in the living room of a home in Brechin‘s Nursery Lane before he punched her left arm.

His victim never told anyone but photographed the bruising.

Days later, another argument took place in the living room and Sinclair repeatedly punched the woman on the left arm, this time with both of his fists.

The woman sought refuge at her mother’s home but didn’t tell her about the attack.

Later that month, the couple again argued in the living room.

While the woman was stood in front of Sinclair, he pushed her, causing her to fall onto a table which broke.

The woman again left and headed to her mum’s and again didn’t disclose the violence but took photos of her bruising.

On another date in March 2021, Sinclair seized the woman by the neck in the same living room.

Three months later, the woman was in the kitchen when another argument broke out.

Sinclair began pushing the woman on the chest before throwing her on the floor.

She struck her head when she fell and walked to her mother’s house where she photographed swelling on her forehead.

Later that year, the woman was feeding a young child in the kitchen when Sinclair attacked her.

Sinclair had been playing his Xbox in a bedroom when he came through to ask if she’d disconnected the WiFi.

He slapped her and went back to the bedroom.

Broke bail

He was released on bail from Dundee Sheriff Court later that year on strict orders not to approach or contact the woman.

On October 4, police received a call and attended at the woman’s home.

Sinclair was found in the property.

In July the following year, Sinclair breached bail again.

When he was arrested, he told police: “She hit me first.”

Solicitor Sarah Russo said: “He is currently on a community payback order imposed on December 23 for two years.

“He has not had a custodial sentence before.”

Sheriff Mark Thorley deferred sentence for reports and continued Sinclair’s bail.

Sinclair, of Market Street in Brechin, is due back on July 25.

‘Hard man’

Two and a half years ago, Sinclair was ordered to complete unpaid work and compensate a youth he violently attacked.

Bad blood between him and his victim spilled over at Brechin’s nature trail when he challenged the youth to a fight.

The victim initially walked away, but then got the first punch in.

Sinclair’s response was to punch and kick the youth in an assault a sheriff said could have had serious consequences.

At that hearing, Sheriff Derek Reekie told Sinclair: “Trying to prove you’re the hard man is not clever and is exactly the sort of thing that will land you in the court.”
