Perth man appears in court charged with Blairgowrie murder bid

A man had appeared in court accused of attempting to murder a 53-year-old in Blairgowrie.

George Stewart is alleged to have repeatedly stabbed Robert Preston in the head and body on Saturday August 5.

It is said that the 20-year-old used a knife in the assault, which took place on a footpath between Hatton Road and Ferguson Park Road in Rattray.

Stewart’s solicitor, Steve Lafferty, entered no plea on behalf of his client.

The case was continued and Stewart, of Stanley Crescent, Perth was remanded in custody.
