A 54-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with a serious assault which took place at a Dundee wallpaper shop.
Gordon Ayre, of Montrose, appeared before Dundee Sheriff Court in private accused of an assault to severe injury.
It is further alleged he caused permanent disfigurement and endangered his alleged victim’s life.
Ayre made no plea and no declaration and was committed for further examination.
He was remanded in custody and told he would appear before the court by the end of the week.
The serious assault, which witnesses say involved a “stabbing” was understood to have taken place in the Select Wallpaper store on Wednesday August 2.
A massive police presence was visible throughout the industrial estate, which houses a number of retail and trade stores, in the immediate aftermath of the alleged incident.
Select Wallpaper, on Ainslie Street, remained closed to the public the next day while police carried out their investigation.
Emergency services arrived on the scene within five minutes of being called.
Two ambulances attended the scene and it is understood a man and a woman were both taken separately to Ninewells for treatment.
Ayre was later arrested by officers in connection with the incident. He was charged on Friday August 4.
