A Dundee man who provided a “safe house” for drug dealers has been locked up for two years.
Sean Robertson, 31, of Earn Crescent, Menzieshill, had previously admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine.
Sentence at Dundee Sheriff Court had been deferred for background reports.
Sheriff Alastair Carmichael said the report was “pretty positive” but there was no alternative to a prison sentence.
Robertson admitted he had a total of 52.38 grams of the class A drug in a bag at Granton Terrace on March 3 last year.
He also had a further 13.15 grams of cocaine, which was mixed with benzocaine.
The haul had a potential street value of £6,500.
The court was told he was providing a “safe house” for dealers after he had racked up a drug debt.
Solicitor Michael Short said Robertson was a “normal family man” who had taken the wrong road after suffering the loss of his grandparents.
He added: “He is a responsible person but he took to drugs and got himself into debt. The people in this business saw an easy mark and targeted that easy mark.
“I’d submit that a period of supervision with unpaid work and a restriction of liberty order would give him a focus and serve the community better than a short-term prison sentence.”
Sheriff Carmichael told Robertson he had taken into account everything positive that had been said on his behalf.
But he said he had come to the conclusion that only a custodial sentence would be appropriate in the circumstances.
