A Fife man who threatened to post naked pictures of a woman on the internet unless she performed sex acts for him online has escaped being jailed.
Lee Patrick was sentenced at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court after admitting one charge of attempted sexual extortion.
The 21-year-old was placed on the sex offenders register for a period of 15 months and ordered to remain under supervision for the same time period.
Patrick, from McDonald Terrace in Methil, was also ordered to complete 120 hours of unpaid work.
He admitted contacting his victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, on November 24 last year and putting her in a state of “fear, alarm and apprehension”.
He threatened to publish sexually explicit images of her on social media sites unless she performed sexual acts on the internet for him.
Patrick admitted attempting to induce her to deliver images of sexual activity on the internet for his own sexual gratification.
He pleaded guilty to the amended charge at a hearing on March 9 and was told his sentence was a direct alternative to custody.
If he breaches any of the conditions, he faces being brought back to court and sent to prison.
