Police have charged a man and a woman in Dundee in connection with a number of distraction thefts which took place in the Lawside area.
A 32-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man will appear at Dundee Sheriff Court this afternoon charged with a number of alleged distraction thefts said to have been carried out on vulnerable OAPs earlier this month.
Chief Inspector Nicky Russell, local area commander of Dundee, said : “The safety of residents in Dundee is our highest priority and these were appalling crimes, targeting elderly victims within their own homes.
“I would like to take this opportunity to remind the public to be vigilant if anyone turns up at your door unannounced.
“Don’t allow anyone entry into your home unless you have verified their identity. Make sure doors and windows are secure.
“If you are suspicious of anyone in your neighbourhood or have any concerns, please call Police Scotland 101 or in an emergency 999.”
