A man had admitted raping a Dundee student less than three weeks after he was released from jail for robbery.
Mark Arnott, 37, admitted carrying out the horrific attack on the 18-year-old when he appeared at the High Court in Glasgow on Friday.
Arnott assaulted the women in a private car park on West Henderson’s Wynd on November 23 last year.
He grabbed the student and told her: “Come with me. I have got a knife. I will stab you.”
The woman’s ordeal only ended when her screams for help were heard by members of Downfield Musical Society leaving a rehearsal.
The court heard she remains so traumatised by the attack she can no longer go outside on her own.
Around 8.10pm on the evening in question, the woman walked past Arnott, who was standing on Guthrie Street.
After she walked past, he ran after her and grabbed her by the shoulder and told her he had a knife.
She was dragged across the road and Arnott then demanded she remove her clothes and pinned her against a wall.
Although the woman begged to be let go Arnott ignored her pleas and raped her.
Around 8.30pm she saw people leaving the Downfield Musical Society and screamed for help.
Arnott fled the scene and was pursued by one of the Society’s female members.
Arnott was detained by police three days after the attack after they obtained DNA evidence.
It emerged that Arnott had been released on licence from prison just 20 days before the attack.
He will be sentenced on July 31 at the High Court.
Lord Mulholland remanded him in custody for reports.
He told Arnott: “Be in no doubt about it, this was a horrific ordeal for a young woman to endure at your hands.”
Arnott was also placed on the sex offenders register.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Prison Service said they could not comment on individual cases.
It is understood Arnott was eligible for automatic release from prison after serving half his sentence for robbery.
