A Kirkcaldy man has been jailed after hitting his former partner on the head with a vodka bottle during a drunken fight.
Jamie Morrison admitted carrying out the alcohol-fuelled attack at an address on Westwood Avenue in Kirkcaldy on May 25.
The 28-year-old, a prisoner at Perth, was ordered to spend 32 months behind bars for the attack which left his victim in hospital.
The court was told that Morrison was recalled to prison following the assault to serve the remainder of a previous high court sentence.
He was previously ordered to spend three years behind bars for setting fire to another ex-lover’s home when she split up with him just days before Christmas in 2015.
Morrison went on to carry out two armed robberies in Cowdenbeath on the same day.
He struck a shop worker with a piece of broken glass before making off with £250 from Nicky News Store.
The thief then targeted Max Grocers in the town and brandished a bottle at a shop worker but escaped with only alcohol and cigarettes.
He was later traced by officers while hiding in a bush and was given a three year prison sentence at Glasgow High Court in 2016 before being released on licence.
Morrison breached the terms of his release by assaulting his on/off former partner during the attack in Kirkcaldy.
He admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by refusing to leave the property when asked to do so before kicking a door shut.
The thug then seized a mobile phone from his ex and threw it to the ground before crushing it under his feet.
He also seized a second mobile phone from a man who was in the property and smashed it on the ground.
Morrison then pushed the woman on the head before repeatedly punching her and seizing her by the body.
She was then thrown to the ground before Morrison kicked her on the head and hit her with a vodka bottle.
Defence solicitor Laurelle Johnstone said: her client had issues with anger management which were exacerbated by alcohol.
Sheriff James Williamson said: “You have a dreadful record and you have been recalled to prison before for similar offending.”
He reduced Morrison’s sentence from four years to 32 months due to his early guilty plea.
