A Dundee man who is accused of raping three women threw a knife at one of his alleged victims while she cradled her baby, a court has heard.
The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told jurors Dean Martin, 35, “just missed” when he hurled the blade at her.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard the 28-year-old woman say that Martin also repeatedly raped her and subjected her to physical attacks.
She said Martin also called her “horrible names” when he attacked her.
The mum told prosecution lawyer Jim Keegan QC: “There was a lot of violence. He threw knives at us. He had a sharp knife in his hand. I had my baby in my hands – he threw it at us and it just missed.”
The woman, also of Dundee, was the first witness in proceedings against Martin, who lives in the city’s St Boswells Terrace.
He denies charges of rape, assault, and sexual assault.
He also denies a charge of breaching a court bail order by approaching the woman who gave evidence against him on Tuesday and shouting at her in a Dundee street.
The woman also told the court she was raped and indecently assaulted.
She said that if she didn’t agree to have intercourse, he would physically abuse her.
She added: “If I didn’t give him what he wanted, I would get hurt for it.”
The woman also described a time when she was allegedly raped.
She said: “He would start to take my trousers off. He would lie on top of me.
“He would then hold me down. I couldn’t move.”
Mr Keegan then asked: “Did you want that to happen?”
She replied: “No.”
Prosecutors claim that on an occasion between March 25 2005 and March 25 2006, at an address in Dundee, Martin raped a woman who was “under the influence of alcohol and controlled drugs.”
The Crown also claims that between December 2007 and April 2010, at various locations in Dundee, he physically assaulted, indecently assaulted, and repeatedly raped the woman who gave evidence against him on Tuesday.
The Crown also claims that between March 1 2009 and December 30 2010, Martin indecently assaulted another woman at a house in Dundee who was “under the influence of alcohol and asleep”. It is claimed the woman “was incapable of giving or withholding her consent”.
Prosecutors also claim that on February 3 and February 4 2017, Martin raped and physically assaulted another woman at a location in Dundee.
Mr Martin, who is represented by solicitor advocate Chris Fyffe, has pleaded not guilty and has lodged special defences of consent to the sexual assault allegations.
The trial, before judge Lord Boyd, continues.
