A 28-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the alleged murder of Annalise Johnstone.
Twenty-two-year-old Annalise’s body was found in a wooded area at the side of a rural road in Perthshire on Thursday May 10.
A 24-year-old man was charged in connection with the alleged murder earlier this year, but Police Scotland revealed on Thursday evening that a 28-year-old has now also been taken into custody.
On Friday morning, Tayside Police Division said the woman arrested on Thursday has now been charged.
She is due in Perth Sheriff Court today.
In a statement, the force said: “Police Scotland can confirm that the 28-year-old woman arrested in connection with the alleged murder of 22-year-old Annalise Johnstone has now been charged.
“She is expected to appear at Perth Sheriff Court today (Friday, September 7).
“A 24-year-old man was charged in connection with the alleged murder in May 2018.
“Annalise Johnstone’s body was found in a wooded area at the roadside of the B8062 between Auchterarder and Dunning on Thursday 10 May.”
Annalise’s body was found in woodland at the roadside of the B8062 between Auchterarder and Dunning.
A subsequent post-morterm suggested Annalise died after her throat was cut.
Her death certificate, registered at Coatbridge, near her family home in North Lanarkshire, and signed by her grandmother, confirmed that she died as a result of a “neck incision”.
Ms Johnstone’s brother, Jordan, 24, has appeared in court accused of her murder. He was committed for trial at at Perth sheriff court.
Mr Johnstone also faces allegations that he stole a caravan in Irvine, Ayrshire, the day before his sister’s body was found next to the B8062 between Auchterarder and Dunning.
