A woman has appeared in court, accused of murdering 22-year-old Annalise Johnstone at a notorious witch memorial in Perthshire.
Annalise was found by the side of the B8062 between Auchterarder and Dunning three months ago.
Angela Newlands appeared on petition at Perth Sheriff Court on Friday afternoon.
The 28-year-old, from Inchture, is accused of assaulting Annalise, repeatedly striking her on the neck, cutting her neck with a sharp implement and murdering her.
It allegedly happened at the Maggie’s Wall memorial, near Dunning.
Newlands made no plea during the brief, private hearing before Sheriff William Wood.
Bail was granted, but this was opposed by prosecutors. Newlands was remanded in custody pending an appeal hearing next week.
Newlands is the second person to appear in court charged with Annalise’s murder.
Her brother Jordan Johnstone faces a similar murder allegation and has been fully committed for trial.
