A falconer who left a £10,000 trail of destruction in his home during a cocaine-fuelled wrecking spree was jailed for six months yesterday.
Christopher Hirst was sent to prison after he admitted trashing and flooding his rental property while working at a Scottish bird of prey centre.
Perth Sheriff Court was told that Hirst had gone out to get a haircut but came back with £100 worth of cocaine which he consumed in an hour.
He punched holes in the walls and left them smeared with his blood during a spree of destruction at the rented property in Perthshire.
Hirst smashed up several rooms and downed a bottle of spirits before brawling with the police officers.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis said: “Custody is the only appropriate disposal.”
Hirst, 29, admitted attacking PC Jason Greenhow by hurling a drawer at him and causing a glass pane to fall and strike the officer on September 1.
He also admitted culpably and recklessly destroying property at Ruthvenvale Terrace in Auchterarder.
He admitted smashing windows and damaging a sofa, the dining table, and a coffee table and chairs as he rampaged through the living room.
Hirst damaged numerous kitchen units, smashed the door of the cooker and did the same to the washing machine, before turning the kitchen taps on to flood the property.
In the bathroom he smashed up the shower screen, before damaging a toilet and smashing a mirror.
Hirst attacked and damaged the bed, a bedside cabinet, a wardrobe and a chest of drawers.
Depute fiscal Bill Kermode said: “Neighbours could hear glass being smashed for around 10 minutes or so. The damage was estimated to be around £10,000.”
