A Dundee woman who stole a pair of earrings to “make herself look pretty” has been given a deferred sentence to deal with her alcohol problems. Rachel Morrison, 41, admitted stealing the jewellery, worth £36, from Debenhams in the Overgate Centre on September 1. Morrison, who moved to Scotland from England, was said to have fallen in with “bad company” upon her arrival. She has previous convictions after appearing in courts in England and in Inverness. Dundee Sheriff Court heard she had had a difficult childhood and was now living in homeless accommodation at the Salvation Army in the city. Sheriff Brown released Morrison on bail and deferred sentencing until December 7 for Morrison to be of good behaviour.
