A man who brandished a nine-inch knife at friends and told them he would throw acid on them has been ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work.
Trouble flared after Bradley Doyle, 24, and his girlfriend booked a holiday home near Glenshee for the weekend.
Depute fiscal Bill Kermode told Perth Sheriff Court: “The holiday cottage was to be used by the accused, his girlfriend and some friends. The group were using the facilities and were in good spirits.
“However, shouting was heard from the kitchen area around 8.20pm on February 17.”
The court heard others in the group rushed into the holiday home, at Chauffeurs Cottage, Blacklunans, and saw Doyle brandishing a knife at two friends and threatening to throw acid over them.
“A female locked herself in the bathroom where she phoned the police,” Mr Kermode added.
Doyle, of Maud, Aberdeenshire, fled the scene as the alarm was raised.
Officers traced him at 9.15pm on a road near Glenshee. He had left the site with his girlfriend.
Mr Kermode told the court the knife had a 25cm (9in) blade.
Doyle admitted brandishing the knife at the property.
Defence agent Leonard Burkinshaw said his client “deeply regretted” his actions and that “bridges had been mended” with the friends.
“Unlike most of the group, my client didn’t drink alcohol all day and he was worried that some items in the home could be broken due to the boisterous behaviour of his friends. But he accepts his behaviour was not acceptable,” he added.
