A man has denied launching a tirade of threats on the A90 between Perth and Dundee, as well as a string of road traffic offences.
James Heriot-Maitland appeared at Perth Sheriff Court from custody accused of shouting, swearing and threatening violence on Monday night, both on the busy road at Glendoick and on the way to the police station in Dundee.
The 40-year-old, of Errol Park House, pled not guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner, as well as twice refusing to give a breath alcohol test.
He is also accused of driving a silver Toyota Landcruiser without insurance or an MOT and refusing to give details of the car’s owner to a police officer.
Trial has been set for March 11.
The court appearance came after police appealed for witnesses to an incident on the A90 at Glendoick when a man got into a woman’s car at the scene of an accident at 7.50pm on Monday.
A statement issued on Tuesday morning said the female driver had stopped to assist the man.
It said: “We are still appealing for that woman to come forward or if you were passing at the time of the incident, we ask that you contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting 3601 or 3641 of December 3.”
