A Fife man who sexually abused two young girls was caught after one victim told the other about the assaults during a game of “social workers”.
Kennedy Gray was found guilty of targeting the children, who were just eight and 13 when the abuse began, following a trial at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.
The 55-year-old, of Lundin Links, first began touching the youngest victim in March 2011 at addresses in the Levenmouth area.
She told how he grabbed her hand and put it down his trousers whilst they were watching TV together on a couch.
She said she felt “a bit scared and a wee bit weird” but did not pull her hand away or say anything to Gray.
The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said her abuser later told her: “Let’s not tell anyone about this. Let’s keep it our little secret.”
On a separate occasion, she told how Gray had walked into her mother’s bedroom wearing just a towel before flashing at her.
She added that the pervert would also repeatedly touch her on the bottom.
The girl later revealed the abuse to the second victim during a role playing game about social work in 2014.
The second victim then told relatives that Gray had targeted both of them.
When questioned by the police, the youngest victim said the abuse had not happened, amid fears she would not be believed by her family.
She reported the abuse again in 2017 and Gray was charged.
The jury also found him guilty of sexually abusing the second victim between March 2013 and July 2014 at an address in Buckhaven.
He repeatedly attempted to make her touch him, touched her on the buttocks and breasts, tickled her on the body and made sexual remarks towards her.
One charge against Gray was found not proven by the jury but the majority returned guilty verdicts on the remaining four counts of sexual assault.
Sheriff Alastair Thornton deferred sentence for background reports and ordered Gray to sign the sex offenders register.
He will return to Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court for sentencing on February 14.
