A driver was caught driving at 70mph in a 30mph limit as he was leaving a Kinross-shire village.
Rob Gourlay put the foot down after passing a sign thanking motorists for driving safely through Crook of Devon before being caught by police officers operating a speed trap.
Gourlay’s solicitor told the court he had accelerated too soon and too quickly. Gourlay, of Newlands Road, Glasgow, admitted driving dangerously by driving at a grossly excessive speed on the A977 Kinross to Kincardine road on April 19.
Sheriff Keith O’Mahony disqualified the 22-year-old from driving for 18 months and ordered him to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.
