A Dundee sex offender who was ordered not to speak to women he doesn’t know has admitted breaching the condition for a third time by staring at workers in a lingerie shop.
Ian King, 33, was spotted “loitering” outside Ann Summers on Reform Street and “staring” at staff inside on September 15.
He was already subject to a string of conditions as part of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order imposed at Dundee Sheriff Court in March 2013.
King, of Kirk Street, most recently breached the order on March 9 this year when he spoke to a woman in the Counting House on Reform Street.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard the behaviour of King, who has learning difficulties, left the employees feeling “unnerved and uncomfortable”.
Depute Fiscal Jenna Grattan told the court the shop had been closed for around an hour when witnesses became aware of King standing outside staring in the window at 7pm.
“He continued to stare without making eye contact for approximately 10 minutes before they went to see what he was doing,” she said.
“At this point, he turned away but then turned back again to stare.
“This caused them to feel uncomfortable and unnerved and so contacted the police.”
King was later traced, cautioned and charged. He made no reply to officers.
In court, he admitted scaring the women as well as breaching the order.
King’s solicitor acknowledged his client has a history of similar offending but asked for leniency because he had pled guilty at the earliest opportunity.
Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown sentenced him to two months in prison, reduced from three months due to his guilty plea.
