A Fife man who assaulted his former partner has been ordered to carry out unpaid work.
Dale Meikle, 25, was put on a community payback order when he appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.
Sheriff Alastair Thornton told Meikle to carry out 185 hours of unpaid work.
In addition, he was put on supervision for six months and told not to contact, or attempt to contact, his former partner.
Meikle pled guilty to assaulting his former partner by seizing her on the neck and seizing her on the arm at an address in Leven on May 11.
He further admitted a second charge of seizing the woman by the neck, pushing her against an item of furniture and pushing his head against her head on May 27.
The charge also stated that he seized her by the neck, pushed her against a set of stairs and pushed his head against her head, all to her injury.
Depute fiscal Catherine Fraser said the pair had been in a “turbulent” relationship.
She said there had been an incident between them on May 26.
“On the morning of May 27, the complainer described the situation between the two as ‘tense’,” she added.
“She wanted to discuss the incident which had happened the day before.
“At that point, the accused thereafter grabbed the complainer by the neck and pushed her against a fridge.
“She told him he needed to calm down.”
Defence solicitor Michelle Renton said: “I think to be fair to the complainer, she has been very honest.
“The relationship is at an end.
“My client has no intention of reconciling.”
