A former Dundee United and Dunfermline Athletic player has been let go by a Scottish League Two side after being spotted making a rude gesture towards Celtic fans at the weekend’s Old Firm game.
Fraser Aird has left Cove Rangers FC with “immediate effect” after TV cameras caught him goading rival fans during the clash between the two Glasgow sides.
A video clip circulating on social media showed Aird with Rangers fans, jumping and then aiming the gesture towards Celtic fans at Parkhead during Sunday’s game.
In a statement Cove Rangers said the club “do not condone such behaviour”.

It reads: “Cove Rangers FC is aware of an image which is circulating relating to one of our players at the recent Celtic v Rangers match.
“As a club we do not condone such behaviour and expect all of our players to represent our club in the correct manner at all times.
“Fraser Aird’s contract with the club was due to expire at the start of January and as a result he will be leaving the club with immediate effect.”
Rangers won the Old Firm match 2-1.
Aird, a 24-year-old winger, played for the Ibrox side from 2012 until 2016.
The Canadian international also had a spell at Dunfermline Athletic from 2017 to 2018.
He was brought to Tannadice by Dundee United’s former manager Csaba Laszlo in the 2018 summer transfer window.
However he left in September 2019.
During his time at Tannadice, Aird made 20 appearances and scored three times.
