A Monifieth resident managed to scare off a burglar who broke into his home in the early hours of this morning.
The crook had smashed a patio window of a house in Princes Street and was reaching in to attempt to unlock it when the householder grabbed his arm.
The suspect then threatened the householder and demanded he hand over property to him.
The resident refused before the burglar ran off empty handed.
Police attended soon afterwards and conducted a thorough search of the area but he was not traced.
The force is now on the hunt for the suspect, who is described as a white male, about 5ft 4, aged in his 30s with a very thin face, and was wearing all dark clothing. He also spoke with a local accent.
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation, is asked to call 101 or speak with any police officer.
