A popular Dundee pizza restaurant is closing down after less than a year in the city.
Management have confirmed that the doors of Wee Slice on the Nethergate will shut for the final time on February 15.
The decision to close in two weeks instead of immediately is to give staff “time to find new jobs”.
A statement on the restaurant’s Facebook page claims that Wee Slice “just simply hasn’t been profitable”.
The post reads: “After much thought and discussion we have decided to close down Wee Slice in just over two weeks time. It’s not a decision we have taken lightly but ultimately it’s something we need to do.
“Since opening in May last year we’ve had an absolute blast serving you all our locally sourced food and drink. But after eight months of trade it just simply hasn’t been profitable.
“It’s a real shame because the overwhelming majority of our reviews and feedback has been positive. But ultimately business is all about taking risks and in this case it just hasn’t paid off.
“We have invested sizeable amounts of money, time and effort trying to make this work.
“Although the financial loss is horrible to think about the reality is we are lucky enough to still have our health, happiness and the hugely successful Wee Mexico to fall back on.
“Right now our staff at Wee Slice are our absolute number one priority. We are doing our best to help relocate them and provide any support they need through this period.”
Wee Slice say they are looking for another business to take on their lease at the Nethergate site.
