The Howff cemetery has had to close because of falling masonry. It is not known how long the historic site will remain closed to the public. Stonework from the back of a Bank Street building crashed on to the ground below on Friday afternoon. The site was closed as a result. It is believed the stone fell from the base of a turret. A Dundee City Council spokesman said they will work with the owner of the building to repair and secure it before reopening the burial ground. The spokesman said: “The Howff has been closed due to a masonry fall from an adjacent building. “We are alerting the building owners to the situation.”
