Police are appealing for information after a fuel tanker stolen from an Angus farm was found burnt out in Dundee.
The bowser was stolen from a farm in Dronley on February 20 and was discovered in Middleton Woods, north of Whitfield, on Wednesday.
It contained 1,500 litres of red diesel when it was removed and three men were seen hitching the bowser to a silver Volkswagen Passat before driving in the direction of Templeton Woods.
A Police Scotland statement said: “The bowser, which was yellow with red writing on all sides, and its contents of 1,500 litres of red diesel was removed from a field at the farm about 1am on Wednesday February 20.
“Three men, one wearing reflective clothing, were seen to hitch the bowser to a silver Volkswagen Passat and drive off in the direction of Templeton Woods.
“About 3pm on Wednesday March 4, the bowser was found burned out and abandoned in Middleton Woods to the north of Whitfield, Dundee.
“At this time we have no indication of how long it had been there for.
We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen this bowser, either at Middleton or anywhere else, between February 20 and March 4.
“We would also like to hear from anyone who may have been offered red diesel for sale or use recently.”
